Pet Tolerant PIRs
Early versions of pet tolerant PIRs used a mask over part of the lens to mask the detection area under a certain height, modern versions use microprocessor technology to reduce the sensitivity of the lower detection areas. Figures quoted are around 35kg (80lbs) which is the weight of a large dog or several cats. Although where cats are concerned it should be remembered that some cats are prolific climbers and using Pet PIRs with cats can still cause alarms.
